About – Technical Summary

After working as an IT Specialist for one of the largest IT companies in the world, I have moved into a Problem Management Engineer role in one of the leaders in managed hosting, co-location and the Gartner leader in Cloud solutions.

My day is consists of trying to understand the weird, strange and downright bizarre issues affecting Windows servers, vSphere and hardware and then providing a resolution or solution to the problem- sounds straight forward enough.

My skills include deep troubleshooting on Microsoft Server platform, from Windows 2000-2008 R2, with Exchange, SQL Server, IIS, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, performance, etc. I get stuck into anything. I also have a good knowledge of VMware design, implementation and troubleshooting. I have found that working for a company that provide cloud solutions on a VMware platform provides plenty of new experiences. I have intimate knowledge of IBM System X blades and servers and HP ProLiant servers and C-Class Blade Enclosures (including the Virtual Connect modules)

I have scripting skills in VBScript, CScript and PowerShell. I particularly find PowerShell useful as both an administrative tool and ideal for gathering and manipulating data.
